Amos Herrera was born in Fayetteville NC at Ft Bragg as he parents were in the military and stationed there at the time.  He returned to his mothers familial home in Maine at the age of 3.  As he grew up he spent his time learning to love the outdoors activities of all types.  After high school he entered the US Army where he traveled and served for a full tour.  After his tour of duty he returned to Maine where he managed a sporting goods store and became a Maine Guide. Eventually he moved on to work with troubled youths where he met his wife, Anne-Mieke.  Having always loved chemistry and seeing his wife’s passion for ceramics he set about developing methods to use local clay for slip casting and for incorporating precious gems, stones and metals into her work.
